Habitats and Animals that occur in the Big Cypress Watersheds

Research Inventory:
The research and monitoring database was designed to provide a comprehensive inventory of current and recent research and monitoring efforts within the Big Cypress Watersheds (BCW). This project is an important step in determining science information needs, not only to avoid duplication of effort, but to identify potential "gaps" in the existing research happening within the region. With funding from the South Florida Water Management District, a team from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission 's Florida Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWC-FWRI) has developed the database which currently describes over 200 recent research and monitoring projects reflecting the work of over 100 researchers conducting studies in the BCW.

The development of this database is an ongoing process, and thus, the FWC-FWRI is always trying to identify new or historical research projects/activities. If you are aware of or involved in any research projects occurring in the BCW, please contact
Adrienne Ruga.

Web site:
This Web site is designed to allow easy access to information concerning identified research projects in the BCW. The "CATEGORY" option provides research projects listed by specific categories (Investigator, Title, Organization, Topic), the "QUERY" option initiates a tabular search, and the "GEOQUERY" initiates and interactive mapping window to search for projects by location. Through these options, you can identify projects of interest and link to detailed metadata reports describing the research projects.
