- Research/Special Studies
In addition to the three long-term monitoring projects, coral reefs, seagrasses, and water quality, the United States Environmental Protection Agency has sponsored special investigations that relate to water quality protection in the Florida Keys. Generally, these investigations are short in duration and are targeted towards addressing a specific concern. Therefore, they may not contribute to the long-term monitoring databases. However, these projects are vital in contributing to the understanding of the Florida Keys ecosystem.
