Abstract:
These GIS data represent bottom type of the southwest coast of Florida. These data were digitized from National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) - National Ocean Service (NOS) Bathymetric Fishing Charts at a 1:100,000 scale. Bottom types represented are: Sand, Gravel, Rock, Shell, Mud, and Coral. These data extend from Sarasota Bay to Cape Romano.
Purpose:
These data were developed to represent bottom types off the west Florida coast.
Supplemental_Information:
Prior to July 1, 2004, the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute (FWRI) was known as the Florida Marine Research Institute (FMRI). The institute name has not been changed in historical data sets or references to work completed by the Florida Marine Research Institute. The institute name has been changed in references to ongoing research, new research, and contact information.
