<procdesc>GPX coordinates for Florida lakes where electrofishing sampling has been conducted were obtained from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Freshwater Fisheries Section. The following process was performed for each lake for which GPX points were obtained. Using ArcPro, the GPX To Feature tool was run and the resulting layer became the starting point layer for the transects. The attribute table was then examined to ensure that the records were sorted in the same order as they appeared on the map and that the first and last records were visually adjacent on the map. All records were then exported to create a new layer that would contain the transect endpoints. This layer was named [lake name]_endpoints. For this layer, the attribute table was opened and the site id value for the first record was changed to the site id value of the last record so both records now had a duplicate Site Id (this is temporary). All records were then selected except for the first record and a field calculation was performed subtracting 1 from each value in the Site_Id field. The Append tool was then run to append the endpoint layer to the starting point layer. The appended table was examined to ensure each site id was duplicated once and that the points were adjacent on map, since this would become the beginning and ending point of each transect. The Points to Line tool was then run to create the new transect layer. The layer was then examined to verify that that all transect lines were connected and followed the lake perimeter. After performing these steps for every lake, the resulting layers were Appended to create a single layer that contain transects for all of the sampled lakes. The Project tool was then run to re-project the layer to WGS 1984 Web Mercator (auxiliary sphere) projected coordinate system.</procdesc>
