FWRI obtained these data from the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD.) Although only the region polygon shapefile is served on the ArcIMS site, an arc version is also available. The arcs have been coded so that they may be drawn with or without the coastline. This data set is intended for cartographic purposes only.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>

The UNIX compressed file was downloaded from the DEP ftp site. The file was uncompressed using the UNIX uncompress command. The export file was imported using the ArcInfo IMPORT command. The fuzzy tolerance was set to .001 and polygon topology was created using the BUILD command. The coverage was projected from ALBERS to UTM using the PROJECT command with the projection parameters listed below. The BUILD command was then used to recreate polygon and create arc topology. The ArcInfo commands ADDITEM and DROPITEM were used to modify the polygon attribute table (PAT) and arc attribute table (AAT). The following items were added to the PAT: WMDNAME, DATESTAMP. The following item was dropped from the PAT: NAME. The following items were added to the AAT: COASTBND, DATESTAMP. The REGIONDISSOLVE command was used to create a region subclass called WMD. FDEP WMD coverage
In May of 2003, the area of Polk county controlled by St. Johns River Water Management District (SJRWMD) was given to the Southwest Florida Water Management District. The legal descriptions were used to extract the proper section lines from the Public Land Survey Sections layer (PLSS). At that time, the Suwannee River Water Management District (SRWMD) also noted an error in their border with the Northwest Florida Water Management District (NWFWMD). SRWMD staff made the correction based on the legal descriptions.
