Description: The researcher and manager studyused a field-based approach to survey researchers and managers. The study relied mainly on a directed (as opposed to a random) sample that was obtained from a variety of sources. The study effort consisted of the development of a survey instrument that was modeled after the commercial fishing study survey instrument but also included several questions on research and management issues. Initial contact with each individual was via email or telephone to describe the study, and a face-to-face interview was performed to the conduct surveys. It should be noted that when the researcher or manager was either not located in the SEFCRI region or was otherwise unavailable for a direct interview a phone interview was conducted.
