Abstract:
This GIS line data set represents depth contours (bathymetry) for the offshore areas around the Florida Keys, from Fowey Rocks to American Shoal, as shown in the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Nautical Chart 11450. FMRI staff digitized the contours off of a clean, wrinkle-free paper chart, using the most current version of the chart that was available in 1997.
Purpose:
To represent marine depth contours, primarily for small-scale (large area) cartographic purposes.
Supplemental Information: These data are not to be used for navigation. User should be aware that later versions of the source charts may be available and that contours may have changed. Consult the most recent paper or digital charts available and appropriate coast pilot.

Process Description: Contours digitized in ArcInfo off NOAA Nautical Chart 11450 at a 1:180,000 scale. Additional attributes were added, to display depth values in both fathoms and feet.
