Fishing from a pier is a popular pastime for may landlubbers around Florida. There are few piers in the waters around Nassau and Duval Counties. Some jut only a few feet into the water, while another extends across the mouth of an inlet (the George Crady Bridge Fishing Pier State Park south pier extends over half a mile across mouth of the Nassau River). Piers offer anglers a chance to fish waters that cannot be reached from shore or wading. Many popular sport fish hang around fishing piers because piers provide structure and food. At night, these fish can be seen cruising around the edges of the pier's shadows. Anglers at many piers catch most of the popular sport fish, as well as some other species like pinfish, shark, catfish, ladyfish, and spadefish. This makes fishing piers a great place to get started in fishing.
Below is a list of fishing piers found on the Boating and Angling Guide to Nassau and Duval Counties. The number identifying each pier is the same as the identifying number used on the printed Boating and Angling Guide and on the interactive map.
All the piers on this list were visited in preparation for the Boating and Angling Guide to Nassau and Duval Counties. If you find that any of these piers have closed, or if one was missed, please let us know.

SHORELINE FISHING LICENSE
Florida residents who only saltwater fish from the land or a structure attached to land, may get the resident recreational saltwater shoreline fishing license at no cost (except for convenience fees that apply on telephone and Internet orders). NOTE: This license does NOT cover anyone fishing from a boat or from an island that they arrived at by boat.
If you have a resident recreational saltwater fishing license or a resident persons with disabilities fishing license, you do not need a shoreline fishing license because the resident recreational saltwater fishing and disability license cover fishing from the shore, a dock, a jetty or a boat.
